2016 Application Form-SBC's Best Public Advocate in Sustainability Award 

Welcome to SBC's Best Public Advocate in Sustainability Award entry page. This is your opportunity to receive recognition and publicity for your sustainable product or service. This is also your opportunity to enter the premiere Southern California Sustainable Business Award Competition. These are the 2016 Award Recipient Prizes! Please fill out the below application form for online submitting along with providing application fee in order to be considered as a candidate for SBC's Best Public Advocate in Sustainability Award. The application deadline is April 1, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. PST. The fee to process the application is $60.

SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability Award
Presented to an individual that has significantly furthered public advocacy in the sustainable business community or has contributed significantly to a program related to sustainable business located in Southern California.

Who is eligible to apply for SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability Award?
Any individual that has a career history in public advocacy engaged in sustainability in the business environment or a program related to sustainable business. The person filling out the application is required to be the person who is responsible for the sustainable public advocacy that the entry is based upon.

Where should SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability Award applications be sent?
SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability applications should be submitted via the Application Form below.

What is the deadline for applications?
Applications must be submitted no later than on April 1, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

What must the application for SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability Award contain?
1) Filled out online Application Form.
2) Submitted Pitch Essay via the online Application Form
3) Paid online, as part of the online Application Form, the $60 processing fee.

What is the judging and criteria for selecting the recipient of SBC’s Best Public Advocate for Sustainability Award?
The judging will be performed by an executive with a company that is a recognized leader in political and environmental strategy, regulatory policy development and advocacy, communications planning and execution, and coalition building and management.

The judge will award points to the candidate businesses based on the businesses written submission. The written submission for this award is referred to by the title, “Pitch Essay.” The Pitch Essay for this award will consist of the following 4 components:

Component 1:
A bio highlighting the person’s track record with implementing public advocacy practices while engaged in sustainability in the business environment or a program related to business.

Component 2:
Two or more examples of the person’s public advocacy campaigns while engaged in sustainability in the business environment or a program related to business.

Component 3:
Two paragraphs highlighting why the person submitting the application should receive this award.

Component 4:
Submit a write-up of feedback from two nor more than three references that the public advocate worked either for or in conjunction with while implementing public advocacy practices while engaged in sustainability in the business environment or a program related to business. There is a word limit on each reference write-up of 300 words or less.

Components 1, 2, 3, and 4 will each receive up to 25 points based on the impact of the person’s public advocacy while engaged in sustainability in the business environment or a program related to business in the Southern California community. The finalists will be notified via e-mail on April 2nd and publicly announced. The winning candidate will be announced during the Fifth Annual SBC Industry Achievement Awards Ceremony on April 19th between 8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. and be presented with the SBC Giving Tree Award Trophy. All candidates are encouraged to attend and if you cannot attend it is highly recommended that the candidate send someone representing your venture to accept the Giving Tree Award Trophy during the award's ceremony. 

About the Pitch Essay:
Candidates will provide a detailed pitch essay consisting of the 4 components described above.
